Licorice and Black Jack

This fable is about Licorice and Black Jack, twin seafaring cats that lived on the Clipper Ship “The Fair Winds” during the mid-1700s. These brother cats were famous for catching rats throughout the Seven Seas. One night, they were kidnapped by a dishonest, disgruntled crew member who sold them to a witch. After ridding the old harridan’s hut of rats, there was nothing left for them to eat, so they snuck off seeking freedom, food, and hopefully their ship. They then had the misfortune to be discovered by a disreputable merchant who sold them for their beautiful pelts. Their troubles took a turn for the worst from that moment on.

Horseflies

He was snoozing next to Topper and Brigette, and though they didn’t move their heads, all of them twitched their ears in my direction as I approached. I ran a hand over every rump in greeting and then stood quietly next to Pauper, not needing to use words, but just to feel the safety of his presence. My sweet show-horse-turned-warhorse had me feeling a little less scared after his terrible, wonderful display. I leaned into his silky mane-covered neck and breathed in his warm, therapeutic scent. He was my constant companion, my protector, my best friend. I knew, there in that moment, how I wanted to ride into battle. It would be me and him, nothing between us, just like in the beginning.

Eva tells her own story in this book. It is intended to show young children that animals have
feelings and thoughts a lot like theirs. Her story has many lessons about overcoming adversity
and disability that children can use in their lives and have empathy for those less fortunate. Eva was rescued by SoiDog Foundation in Phuket, Thailand.

DreamHoppers is a fantasy adventure novel about four young teens, a cat, an elephant, and a blue boy who they meet one mystifying night in a fanciful dream. Each night the dream evolves and changes.

As time goes on, the confused teenagers come to believe that the purpose of the dream, if there is a purpose, is to take charge of the youngest, a boy who calls himself Prince Raj. They promise to help him escape his dream castle prison. Alex, the skeptic, finds the confusing world of dragons, and elephants, and blue boys, and talking cats, proof of his skepticism of the supernatural. The dream is nothing more than a product of his imagination.
